Today the first group of ISU scientists and astronomers has flown from Irkutsk to Nairobi (Kenya). The main purpose of the scientific expeditions is the observation of a total solar eclipse on November, 3. In Moscow on the way to Africa Moscow astronomer Mikhail Gavrilov, Candidate of Sciences (Physics and Mathematics) will join the squad. The observations are planned in the vicinity of the town of Lodwar. Here, November, 2, both squads will meet to go by car to the strip of the eclipse observations. A unique wide-angle lens will be at the disposal of the expedition, supplied by Novosibirsk planetarium. Through this lens the astronomers hope to obtain unique video footage, which can be used for display in the future Irkutsk planetarium.
